WHAT IS THICKENED AND SCALY SKIN?
MECHANISM
Thickened and scaly skin is due to an accelerated replacement of epidermal cells associated to an inflammation. It is characterized mainly by the presence
of raised red patches on the skin, which are often itchy and topped with dead skin (scales).
AFFECTED AREAS
The most commonly affected areas are those exposed to friction: elbows and the outer edge of the forearms, knees, lower back, scalp and nails.
