  • WHAT IS CUTANEOUS DRYNESS?

    MECHANISM

The most superficial part of the epidermis, known as the stratum corneum is an extraordinary and effective barrier due to the presence of fat bodies. If this layer is altered, the skin dries out and becomes irritated. The synthesis of skin specific lipids is deficient and the cellular cohesion is no longer guaranteed. The skin becomes fragile and more permeable. It no longer plays its role as a protective barrier and is exposed to external irritants. To be protected, the skin needs to be moisturized and nourished.

    CAUSES

External agressions such as cold, sun, allergens, soap, etc. may contribute to damage the protective film of your skin (the hydrolipidic film).
